Frequently Asked Questions
What questions should I ask my Personal Chef?
You want to be sure your Personal Chef is a professional and a good match for your needs. Some basic questions to ask are:
- Are you a member of a professional association?
- Where did you receive your experience?
- Do you have a ‘safe food’ handling certificate?
- Are you a registered business?
- Do you carry liability insurance?
- Do you have a list of references?
Will you do all of the cooking in my kitchen?
Yes, I prepare all of the event meals in your kitchen. I bring all of the pots, pans, and utensils, so there is nothing you will need to supply. I also clean up after cooking, leaving you and your guests with freshly prepared, gourmet food to enjoy!
How long will you be in my home and do I have to be there?
It will generally take three to five hours, depending on how much food I am preparing and their complexity. I will also do all of the initial clean-up. If you want me to stay through your event, additional charges will apply. Of course, you will need to be home to let me and my staff in to prepare your meal in your kitchen.
How does the cost of a Personal Chef compare with that of a caterer or gourmet grocer?
You’ll learn that my service is not only comparable with a caterer or gourmet grocer, but you will have the benefits of your creating a personalized menu, so the meals are freshly prepared according to your tastes and those of your guests. If you were thinking of doing the cooking yourself, count up the hours you will save by not having to plan, shop, cook and then clean up. You have now saved yourself a great deal of time, as well as wowing your guests with the personalized menu we’ve put together. And aren’t these two benefits what is most important for a special occasion? Saving Time, Creating Memories!
Do you provide dinner plates and serving utensils?
Typically, the host/hostess will provide their own plates and utensils. If you wish Chef Ann to provide this service, please discuss this with Chef Ann at the time of consultation.
